Spring Fishing

The Catskills have long been a major fishing destination. There are bountiful rivers with deep pools and large ponds with bass, brown and rainbow trout, that make fishing and spending time outdoors a wonderful pastime. Each Spring, the Department of Environmental Conservation stock rivers, ponds and creeks with rainbow and brown trout. From April to May they release varying quantities and sizes in Catskill waterways to sustain the population and enhance fishing. All the action starts on April first.
