The Roxbury at Stratton Falls

The owners of the Roxbury, Gregory Henderson and Joseph Massa, have purchased and restored this 19th century Italianate mansion with plans to create a luxurious hotel property with seven themed guest rooms, eight stand alone cottages, as well as a cabana with swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. This magnificent property also happens to be situated next to a stunning waterfall that pours into a pristine 50-foot-woodland gorge. This property is currently under construction. We will announce the opening when this magnificent property is ready for visitors.

Plattekill Mountain

Plattekill Mountain is home to skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing fun. As part of shrinking number of privately operated mountains across the country, Plattekill has built on the reputation of offering a laid back, true, real deal authentic vibe that sets the mountain apart from the rest. The mountain offers live music events, festivals and is also a bike park and wedding venue during the warm weather season.

Shepard Hills Golf Course

Shephard Hills Golf Course was originally part of the estate of Helen Gould Shepard, daughter of railroad magnate Jay Gould, a Roxbury native son. The nine-hole course offers challenging terrain with spectacular mountain views and the full-service clubhouse and pro shop are located in the estate’s former guesthouse, a remarkable stone structure commissioned by the Gould family in 1911.

Jay Gould Memorial Church (Historic District)

This historic English Gothic style church, composed of rough-faced St. Lawrence marble with interior Indiana limestone and quartered oak woodwork, was built as a memorial to their father by the children of Jay Gould, a notorious Gilded Age railroad tycoon born in Roxbury, NY in 1836.

Kirkside Park

Kirkside Park is a 14 acre treasure formerly the estate of Helen Gould Shepard, daughter of Roxbury native son, Jay Gould. This park, built in 1905, features rustic Adirondack style bridges, paths, a meticulously crafted dry laid stream bank, native plantings and imports from the Lyndhurst Greenhouse. The park is open to the public, and also available for tent and party rentals.

Roxbury Arts Group

The Roxbury Arts Group offers high-quality arts programming at their two venues, The Roxbury Arts Center in Roxbury, NY and the Old School Baptist Church in Denver-Vega Valley. The Roxbury Arts Group also administers the Decentralization Grant Program that provides funding to non-profit organizations and artists within Delaware County.

Woodchuck Lodge

Woodchuck Lodge in Roxbury has been a National Historic Landmark since 1962. The Lodge, built in the early 1860’s, was the summer home of John Burroughs, America’s most prominent and adored naturalist-essayist. The home is open for tours the first weekend of the month, May through October.

Burroughs Homestead LLC

The Burroughs Homestead LLC, is a historic weekly and nightly accommodation that is situated on the original site of the Burroughs family homestead. The property consists of three original Burroughs family barns that were structurally restored and is nestled on 325 stunning acres that over look the Catskill Mountains.

The Roxbury Barn

The Roxbury Barn is a boutique wedding venue located on a 167-year-old mountainside estate, and is complete with the main redesigned carriage barn, lush perennial gardens, tree lined court yard, and lily pond. The venue also has a dramatic pine grove nicknamed the Natural Cathedral, which provides an awe-inspiring setting for wedding ceremonies.

Catskill Scenic Trail

The Catskill Scenic Trail lives up to its name as it winds through a broad farming valley and small towns in New York’s Catskill Mountains. The trail consists of over 25 miles of beautiful scenery that guides you along the path of the old Delaware and Hudson railroad. You can access the trail at the designated area on Route 30, at the base of Hardscrabble Road, just north of Roxbury.

Chappie’s

Chappie’s, owned by James Chapman, the owner of the boutique and historic “The Rhinecliff” hotel on the Hudson River and one of the leading caterers in the Catskills, started his restaurant on main street Roxbury in 2016.  Chapman began by serving only breakfast and lunch, and just announced that they will serving their dinner menu at Shepard Hill Golf Course.

The Methodist Church Clock Tower

The historic United Methodist Church is a beautiful picture-perfect structure that has been part of the Roxbury community for generations.  You can only imagine Jay Gould driving past the church and checking his watch against the time on the church’s clock tower.
