The Great Western Catskills pulls out all the stops in preparation for the holidays. Here are some of the events we are aware of now. We will update this often so please check back from time to time. Happy Holidays!

 

Silver Sleigh

Delaware & Ulster Railroad, Arkville, New York
December 1, 7, 8, 14, 21, 22, 2019, 12:00 pm – 2:30pm

Climb aboard on the Delaware & Ulster Railroad line for a 90 min holiday ride through the winter scenery of the Great Western Catskill Mountains. Along the journey listen to the story of the Silver Sleight, a magical tale of how a passenger train traveling through the snow bound Catskills discovers Santa and his grounded sleigh. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Tickets available online.

 

Find Your Holiday Spirits: A Mythic Catskills Adventure

Spillian

Dec 6 at 5 PM – Dec 8 at 12 PM

The creative minds behind Spillian are partnering with Table to Farm Tours to invite you to come and taste – literally and metaphorically – the terroir of the Catskills ciders, beers, and spirits and bring some back to your hearth for your celebrating this holiday season.

 

Roxbury Soup & Sip

Historic Hamlet of Roxbury
Saturday December 7th, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Join over a dozen Roxbury businesses and organizations for homemade soup and delicious wines while admiring the holiday decorations along historic main street. Tickets include admission to the Roxbury Arts Group’s evening performance by the Wynotte Sisters, and can be purchased in advanced via the Roxbury Arts website or by visiting Roxbury Wine & Spirits or the Roxbury General Store.

 

Franklin Holiday Market and Christmas Stroll

Franklin, Delaware County, New York

Come enjoy the magic of the season in beautiful Franklin! There is a full day of activities planned, something for everyone to enjoy. Some highlights are the Holiday Market, Grandma’s Pantry, Trees and Trains at the museum, story time, photos with Santa and back by popular demand: The Christmas Stroll house tour! Annual Christmas Craft Sale

Celebrate Christmas in the Catskills! Featuring the very best in local foods and crafts, you’ll find everything you need for holiday meals and gift giving. This community event is co-sponsored by the Hobart Rotary Club and the Hobart Farmers’ Market. See you there!

 

Christmas on the Square!

Hancock’s popular Christmas on The Square event is back this year with fun for the whole family! Enjoy the area’s best Parade of Lights, a live ice sculpting demonstration, wandering Dickens carolers, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus along with the annual tree lighting ceremony. Enjoy music and games, free holiday goodies and refreshments, s’mores, cookies & cocoa, as well as numerous food and craft vendors to help you get a jump on your holiday shopping.

December’s Classic Flix – It Happened on 5th Avenue (1947)
