Columbus Day Weekend 2018

“The time of the falling of leaves has come again. Once more in our morning walk we tread upon carpets of gold and crimson, of brown and bronze, woven by the winds or the rains out of these delicate textures while we slept,” John Burroughs, the Falling of the Leaves.

Fall is one of our favorite seasons here in the Great Western Catskills as it is a time for us to celebrate and appreciate the bounty of all the things that make our region a magnificent place to vacation to or to call home. When planning a vacation or looking for things to do to celebrate Columbus Day Weekend this October, The Great Western Catskills will be hosting a variety of events that span from food festivals, pasture to table cooking workshops and dinners, and cider pressing demonstrations, to intimate music performances, guided fall hikes and river excursions just to name a few. The town of Roxbury, NY in particular will be hosting a variety of these events, beginning with a Pumpkin Decorating Activity with Markers, which will be held at the Roxbury General store on Saturday October 6th.  Please see below for a full list of the events that are occurring this Columbus Day Weekend in the Great Western Catskills!
